COMMITTEE MEMBERS 2014/15
Name: Bobak Saadat, Position: President
Bio: Hi! Welcome to the LSESU Persian Society. My name is Bobak and will the President for the 2014/15 year. I am currently studying undergraduate Social Anthropology and am in my 3rd and final year. Besides being an anthropology geek, I have a passion for food (especially Persian food) and playing guitar and piano. I have visited Iran many times and am continually fascinated by Persian culture - in fact, my dual cultural heritage provoked my interest in anthropology! I am always interested in a good chat, event or drink so please do not hesitate to stop me on campus and drag me to an event, discuss Persian food with me, or buy me a pint!
Fav Persian Food: Fesenjan
Fav location on Campus: Dennings Learning Café and top floor of NAB with its panoramic views of London.

Name: Amir Ghomeshi, Position: Marketing Officer
Bio: I was born in Tehran and lived there for 6 years. I’ve lived in South East England since I moved to the UK. (I briefly lived in Canada for 3 months but it was too cold for my parents, so we came back to Iran!)
I’m a massive fan of Team Melli (Iranian Football Team) and my favourite Iranian dish (apart from all the Kababs) is Khoresht Ghayme. At LSE I am studying Economics, so hopefully in the future I can make Iran an economic superpower again!

Name: Caspar Hobhouse, Position: Design Officer
Bio: I am Caspar, a first year history student at the LSE. I started life in Liverpool although we quickly migrated to Rochdale to the north of Manchester; famous for the Coop. My involvement in this society is a direct result of two months in Iran and a further two months in the Tajik-Persian areas of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. I loved my time in these countries and so was utterly flabbergasted by how they are portrayed back in Britain. I hope you, like myself, through the variety of events on offer, will be able to see through to the extraordinary culture and people of the Persian world.

Name: Bobby Roshdi, Position: Social Media Officer
Bio: Hey I'm Bobby, a third year student at Lse, studying Economics and Economic History. Born and raised in London. I have a huge passion for food, travelling and most of all, my beloved Arsenal FC. Unfortunately I haven't been to Iran since 2002, yet my memories of it could not be fonder. I am very proud of my country and keen to show people a different side to that portrayed in the news. The sports I play are football and tennis. As well as the already mentioned, I take a keen interest in history, politics, economics and current affairs.
Favourite Persian food: Joojeh kabab.
Random fact: I have seen Omid Djalili live and he is as hilarious as he seems on tv.

Name: Negin Olya, Position: Secretary
Bio: Hi guys! I am this years Persian Society Secretary. I'm fully iranian but was born and have lived in the UK my whole life. I am currently studying my second year of Social Policy with Government here at the LSE. Like many other Iranians I am very proud of my heritage and would love to show those interested a less political and more fun side of the country. I frequently visit Iran and speak, read and write it, so I am happy to help anyone wanting help with learning it too. Also, it goes without saying that kabab koobideh is the best iranian food out there.

Name: Sahand Fouladiasl, Position: Treasurer
Bio: I am a second year Economics student. I've lived in London all my life and I visit Iran at least once a year. I normally go to the mountainous city of Ardebil to visit family and to have some fantastic food. I speak Farsi fluently and can also read and write. Having only visited around 5 cities in Iran, I hope that I can one day travel around the whole of Iran and to try out the different delicacy of each region. My main aim (apart from being treasurer that is) is to promote the Persian culture to remove any misconceptions about Iranians or Persians and to provide a clearer insight into our traditions. Have a fantastic year ahead.
