This week, we hosted our first dinner of the year at Mahdi Restaurant on Finchley Road. We were overjoyed by the turnout of 43 people, from all backgrounds, who provided us with such good company.
We started off our evening with some freshly baked bread and a shared platter of starters. I spent most of my time passionately explaining how to pronounce the starter's that people had taken a liking to failing to get across the difficult ones (like 'Mirza Ghasemi'!).
After this we were treated to oh-so-tender kebabs with rice for our mains, or alternatively some vegetarian stews and rices. To top this off we had some traditional Persian tea washed down with lots of sugar cubes!
Thanks to all those who came and made this a great evening as well as the staff at Mahdi for being so efficient and making it easy for the committee. Another thank you must go out to the committee, in particular Chardee, our vice-president, who oversaw the restaurant booking!
